Welcome to Kindergarten!

kgDear Families,

Welcome to kindergarten!  We are excited to begin this journey with you and your child and provide a special place for your child to learn, play, and grow!

Our kindergarten students will begin school on Friday, September 8th.  On August 31st and September 1st we will be inviting students in to complete the kindergarten screening process.  We screen all of our incoming kindergarten students to best understand each child’s individual needs.  The tool utilized for screening is the DIAL-4 (Developmental Inventory for Assessment of Learning) which assesses children in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, academic readiness, language, self-help skills, and social development.  It also consists of a parent/guardian questionnaire for families to complete.  Information regarding your child’s specific screening date and time will be sent out in the near future.

After the screening process has been completed, class placements will be made and shared with families.  An Open House will be held on Thursday, September 7th from 5:30-6:30pm for families to meet their child’s teacher, see the classroom, and tour the school.

Attached HERE is some general information that was presented at the informational night held in May that may be helpful. Also please note:

-Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students this coming year.  Therefore, all students can receive breakfast and a full lunch at no cost.

-Busing is set up for all students to and from the home address.  If your child will be going to or from a different address, please contact the school office with that information.  If we have this information early, we can be better prepared for the first day of school.

-Our transportation company, AA Transportation, will be holding their annual “First Ride for Safety” on Wednesday, August 23rd from 10:00 am - Noon at 174 West Main Street, East Brookfield. This is a wonderful opportunity for new students to receive an introduction to bus safety and experience a ride on the “big yellow school bus”.  Click HERE for the flier for this event.

As the school year approaches more detailed information will be provided regarding processes and procedures.  If you have not completed the registration process, I urge you to please do so as soon as possible to not delay your child’s start of the school year.  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions to Sue Mallette our school secretary at 508-892-7050,  [email protected] or at the emails below.

We look forward to partnering with you to provide the best learning experience for your child.

Yours in Learning,

Tina Boss, Principal
